Ingredients
- 8 medium oranges (about 1200g (2 lb 10 oz)), juiced (yields about 1000ml (4 1/4 cups, 34 fl oz))
- 100g (1/2 cup, 3.5 oz) granulated sugar
- 120ml (1/2 cup, 4 fl oz) water
- 500g (1 lb 2 oz) ice cubes

Method
- 1Make the simple syrup: add 100g (1/2 cup, 3.5 oz) granulated sugar and 120ml (1/2 cup, 4 fl oz) water to a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring, until the sugar fully dissolves and the syrup just starts to simmer, about 3 to 5 minutes (you should have about 180ml (3/4 cup, 6 fl oz) syrup).
- 2Cool the syrup to room temperature for about 15 to 20 minutes, then refrigerate until cold, about 15 to 30 minutes.
- 3Juice the oranges to get about 1000ml (4 1/4 cups, 34 fl oz) orange juice.
